  • Getting Started

Knowledge of the pest insect and the Bti. black fly treatment is the first step to a successful management program.  Bioconservation Inc. offers educational presentations to help inform your organization on black fly control programs.

A mapping survey of the black fly habitat is done in the fall prior to the spring treatment season. The streams to be treated are indicated on United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographical maps. These maps are then submitted to the NYS DEC as part of the required permit process. From late March until mid July treatments are made by certified technicians. This provides for control throughout the summer.
